In order to facilitate the processing of a complex sequence of instructions to an automation system, a single macro name is substituted which may also have a set of parameters that define how the macro is to be processed by the device. The execution of the macro by the automation system triggers a predefined series of discreet events rather than requiring that each event be specifically called.
