Administrative matters
Task Force name
And the winner is: EBU-AMWA FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Service) Task Force
Wiki presentation and working procedures
Make a pdf out of the ToRs with EBU and AMWA logos and upload in document repository
ACTION: Update the ToRs will the last procedural points (see "how will it work?" on the wiki main page and the minutes of the kick-off webex)
Only the following document formats will be considered for upload on the wiki at this stage: word (2003) pdf, ppt and excel.
Document repository: per meeting, per event or the general repository as appropriate
Contribution rules: to be drafted off-line
A method to help users register after they have agreed general contribution terms will be studied (see EBU experience in other Task Forces). Access to the reflectors shall not be automatic.
Contacts: a short list reflector will be setup (EBU) with Brad, JP, John and Giorgio addresses (to avoid spamming)
Membership list: change the list of e-mails into a list of names and companies
Different parts of the wiki will be under the responsibility of well identified editors who will ensure that contributions are made according to well-behaving rules. The editors will also be responsible for formatting /editing contributions. Identity of these editors, tbd.
Press release
A draft press release was presented by Brad as a the results of off-line contributions. This was reviewd and commented. It will be published a.s.a.p after a quote from Giorgio and the main roadplan milestones have been added by JP. The PR will provide a URL to the wiki.
Discussion on the RFT content
Objectives
One key objective of the project has been expressed as "Reduce friction in integrating software in the media environment, which has specific requirements"
The RFT should allow to have an overview of the technologies proposed by the industry today.
There are two main topics to be covered by the RFT:
1/ Proposals for a definition / characterisation method of media services: the RFT should remain sufficiently open to allow for a variety of approaches to be submitted, while sufficient directions should be provided to allow comparing proposals.
ACTION: Jean-Pierre to prepare a presentation of the OASIS model at the next webex and explain how it could be used to organise this part of the RFT
2/ Proposals for services (i.e. what do proponents believe are relevant services vs what do users need). Responses will be used to achieve one of the goals of the project i.e. availability/offer of industry implementations of well defined (standardised in their global definition) services for interoperable integration in service component production architectures.
3/ The use of example (e.g. ingest) to facilitate contribution remains an open option.
4/ The next webex should also address in more details what are the expected outputs from FIMS: specifications, interoperability guidelines, etc.
The next webex will be organised as follows:
- Technical discussion first for 45-60 minutes - Administrative matters next (max 30 minutes)
Preliminary ToC
The draft ToC can be found as the current backbone of the RFT section of the wiki.
